Purpose Of The Role
In this role, the balance between ‘learning’ and ‘doing’ shifts towards the ‘doing’. You’ll be playing a more active and visible role within your team, making a consistent contribution to your work and supporting staff senior to you on their portfolio of clients. You’ll also have more frequent client contact and will be expected to communicate in a clear and professional manner to deliver client service.
As a Semi‑Senior, you will have hopefully completed your ATT qualification (or be close to qualifying) and your focus should have turned to commencing your CTA qualification. Ideally, you’d have at least two years’ experience with an accountancy practice already. You’ll join a friendly, supportive business which offers its employees excellent progression opportunities.
Reporting into a relevant team member, you will be able to continue studying for your professional qualifications whilst gaining on the job experience as you work within a team to service clients such as individuals, companies, trusts, estates, and more.
We provide both technical/hard and ‘soft’ skills training through platforms such as Tolley’s, Mercia, Croner‑i and LinkedIn Learning. We also provide ongoing training to develop your ‘soft’ skills. You'll gain hands‑on client experience, so in your first years especially, we'll equip you with training on essential skills like making a positive first impression, mastering effective time management techniques, and enhancing your communication skills.
Accountabilities
- Supporting ongoing project workflow and delivering updates to team and clients.
- Implementing and controlling general internal processes for the Tax team.
- Assisting with the preparation of a broad range of Tax Returns, varying in complexity.
- Working with a wide range of clients.
- Management of key deadlines.
- Advising clients of their liabilities.
- Constant and effective liaison with all stakeholders including HMRC.
- Building and maintaining key relationships.
- Assisting with general business support and administrative duties of the advisory teams.
Skills/Qualifications
- 1-2 years + experience working for a Tax Practice
- ATT qualified, or close to being qualified (see above).
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management.
- Effective communication and interpersonal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
