The team provides the Council with vital independent assurance on the effective, efficient, and economic use of resources, that good standards have been upheld and on matters of compliance and control. Services are delivered in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards in the UK Public Sector.
About the job
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake high level assignments into complex and high risk areas, as well as lead on more detailed systems, financial and investigative audits. The successful candidate will be able to work to strict deadlines with minimum supervision. You will assist the Audit Manager and Group Auditor in promoting a high quality service delivery and contribute to the development of new working techniques and practices.
You will also act as a Relationship Manager with Directors in nominated areas of the Council.
What We Are Looking For From You
You must be a member of a relevant professional body e.g. CCAB, AAT, IIA and be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of auditing practices and modern audit techniques. Experience of internal audit within the public sector would be an advantage.
All applicants will need an enquiring mind, good communication skills and an ability to produce work of a consistently high standard.
Access to a vehicle and holding a full valid driving licence is desirable.
