Job Description

The Emergency Department at Nottingham University Hospitals' NHS Trust is recruiting for a CESR (Certificate of Eligibility of Specialist Registration) Fellowship Training Programme. This opportunity is for a motivated doctor who wishes to join our dynamic and friendly Emergency Medicine team. Our CESR workforce has five fellows and we are looking to expand this team.

Responsibilities

  • Begin working on the Tier 3 rota and, during the first year, experience both adult and paediatric Emergency Department care.
  • After 12 months, be reviewed with the CESR Lead to assess readiness for senior decision‑making and potential promotion to the Tier 4 rota.
  • Develop competencies and a portfolio of evidence needed to complete the Emergency Medicine CCT curriculum.
  • Complete rotations through Acute Medicine, Intensive Care, Anaesthesia and Paediatric Emergency Medicine to acquire specialist knowledge and skills.
  • Work under the clinical direction of Emergency Medicine Consultants who are present in the department 24/7.
  • Maintain a twenty‑four hour, seven day a week roster, managing adult and paediatric emergency attendances.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed an IAC (anaesthesia rotation) elsewhere in the NHS.
  • Working experience in a Senior Clinical Fellow capacity.
  • Motivation to complete a four‑year CESR pathway and to develop into a senior decision maker.

Contract & Pathway

  • Initial one‑year contract with a review after 12 months.
  • Potential extension of an additional two years and entry onto the CESR pathway following successful completion of the first review.
  • Future progression to the CESR programme after the first year, contingent on mutual agreement and assessment outcomes.
