Children’s Occupational Therapist – Hybrid – SEMH/Autism

Hybrid role: Halifax with occasional national travel

Must have UK driving licence and own car

Remit

We partner with a leading provider of children’s residential and specialist education services to recruit an experienced Children’s Occupational Therapist.

This newly created role divides your time between home working, a specialist school and traveling to residential homes across England when required. At least half of your week will be based onsite at a specialist school in Halifax, which supports children with autism spectrum conditions, SEMH needs and backgrounds of trauma and attachment difficulties.

Your role will involve carrying out comprehensive assessments, developing formulations and delivering evidence‑based therapeutic interventions, as well as assessing and advising on equipment, aids and adaptations. You will also contribute to wider clinical responsibilities including MDT meetings, specialist staff training, consultations and advisory support to families, education teams, residential staff and Registered Managers.

In addition to onsite support, you will provide remote consultation via Teams, offering occupational therapy guidance, contributing to care planning discussions, and delivering virtual training to support teams across the organisation. Travel to residential homes nationwide will be required on an ad hoc basis. You will work as part of a wider clinical team which includes SALTs, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Therapy Assistants and the Clinical Director.

Location

You will spend at least 2.5 days per week based at one of the organisation’s specialist schools in Halifax. The site is easily commutable from Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Rochdale, Oldham, Wakefield, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and surrounding locations across West Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.
