Family Help Lead Practitioner – Targeted Help Team
Plymouth City Council’s Family Help Service is recruiting a new team of Family Help Lead Practitioners to support children to remain with their families. This role involves intensive family support and prevention of escalation where multiple vulnerabilities and complex needs are present. Practitioners will work creatively and intensively, undertaking assessments and utilising family networks to put in place strengths‑based plans to empower families and enable children to remain with their families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop strengths‑based family plans.
- Use evidence‑based and relationship‑based interventions to address multiple and complex needs.
- Support families in improving family functioning, relationships and school attendance for children.
- Utilise the Families First Partnership reforms to deliver the right support at the right time.
- Work collaboratively within a team, demonstrating initiative, problem‑solving and strong communication skills.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience of direct work with children and families within a relevant health, youth work, education or social care setting.
- Demonstrated use of evidence‑based interventions and relationship‑based practice.
- Strong-values based approach rooted in empathy, kindness and compassion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and understanding of the Children Act 1989.
- Commitment to child‑focused, strengths‑based practice and whole family approaches to prevent escalation.
