Residential Care Officer
Heathervale YPC. Salary: £34,452 – £40,501. Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks. Working patterns: early and late shifts worked over a combined shift pattern.
Residential Childcare Officer (RCO) is a key role for supporting, caring and upholding the rights of children and young people within the ethos of CEC. The role focuses on trauma‑informed practice, relationship‑based practice and Edinburgh’s Promise to enhance future positive outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Key responsibilities include supporting and caring for young people, role‑modeling positive behaviour, maintaining communication and interpersonal skills, and actively improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Completion or in‑progress SVQ Level 3/HNC or equivalent in Child Care/Social Care or a related area, or other relevant qualification at SCQF Level 7 or above.
- Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within six months of employment under the relevant category.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of three months or more out of the UK in the last five years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. The unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks.
