We are recruiting for a Structural Engineer to be an integral part of the team: This role can be based in either Sunderland OR Chorley depending on the distance of the individual (TBD)

Your Key Responsibilities as Structural Engineer

  • Review project specifications and confirm scope of supply (including anticipated cost/ programme and the impact into the project team
  • Prepare Civil/ Structural Basis of Design summary prior to commencing engineering works
  • Produce analysis models to validate civil/ structural configurations, and to generate foundation loads
  • Ensure analytical models are transferring loads as expected, and that axial forces and moments are fixed/ released as stability (& connection design) demand
  • Produce hand calculations to validate connection design
  • Effectively communicate design requirements to the design team
  • Check Civil/ Structural drawing output (as required) to ensure that the information within reflects analytical models and calculations
  • Prepare Civil/ Structural calculation reports for inclusion into the project technical file
  • Deliver works in alignment with the business' ISO 9001 processes and templates as controlled within the Quality Management System (COS)
  • Identification, and escalation, of all civil/ structural Technical Queries (TQ) that occur on the project

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Minimum BEng (Hons) in Engineering (preferably Civil or Structural Engineering)
  • Experience in a Civil/ Structural engineering field
  • Chartership Status
  • Knowledge of the construction & process industries and applicable standards
  • Ability to use structural analytical software unaided – STAAD Pro or TEKLA Structures
  • Understanding of load cases and combinations, and able to deduce structures are behaving as intended through calculation or analysis
  • Experience of good time management in a project delivery environment
