Role Description
12hr Day Shift (Blocks of 2s & 3s). To maintain the site assets to achieve optimum operational efficiency, statutory and customer compliance whilst complying with all H&S requirements.
Principal Responsibilities
- Effective & efficient maintenance of the site’s assets from a mechanical, electrical or process perspective.
- Execute work schedule, PPMs, breakdowns, capital and CI work streams.
- Help the site achieve optimal operational efficiency at lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the Group Supply Function: Safety, Cost, Delivery, Quality.
- Work with site Engineering, Team, Senior Leadership Team, Group Engineering, and Projects Team to support the delivery of an agreed manufacturing vision and strategy.
- Ensure when carrying out all duties that due regard to own safety and that of others is always considered.
- Strict adherence to all H&S work policies, e.g. Lock out and Tag (Isolation of all energy sources when undertaking any work) and Use of the Permit to Work/Enter system.
- Carry out duties ensuring the site achieves and maintains required GMP standards.
- Ensure all work conforms to statutory and safety requirements.
- Ensure that risk assessments are completed and actioned.
- Support a culture that enhances behavioural awareness to reduce accidents and near misses.
- Reduce customer complaints and wastage through effective maintenance and continuous improvement.
- With Area Coordinator establish clear objectives and priorities to enable manufacturing to meet operational targets.
- Responsible for recording work carried out with regards to PPMs, breakdowns, repairs and modifications. Take ownership for issues to ensure follow-up and closure of the original issues.
- Assist with training and support other departments in the general running of the factory.
- Identify own training needs and with manager agree a time plan for achieving them.
- Promote and comply with 5S and GMP and other continuous improvement tools to identify areas for improvement to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction.
- Continually review performance, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve performance.
- Ensure that both verbal and written communication is succinct and accurate (e.g., handovers and end/start of shift reporting).
- Communicate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams daily ensuring work status reporting is concise.
- Communicate as required with Engineering Stores to ensure that spares are available for planned and breakdown maintenance.
Role Requirements
- Have completed recognised and relevant engineering apprenticeship, preferably a multi‑skilled apprenticeship.
- Experience of FMCG manufacturing environment.
- PC literate.
- Experience of using CMMS, preferably SAP.
- Worked within a regulated environment and used Permit to Work systems and dynamic risk assessments.
- Has a good working knowledge of and uses problem‑solving techniques such as fault finding and root‑cause analysis to close out actions to a permanent fix.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and engineering drawings.
- Advanced diagnostic skills: mechanical, electrical, PLC and process.
