Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Service, repair and maintain JCB and other plant equipment to manufacturers' specifications, ensuring machine reliability and safety.
  • Inspect machines, record defects and upsell services, enabling financial benefits for the employee.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical, hydraulic, powertrain and other faults prior to and during repair work.
  • Operate JCB’s Service Master diagnostic software (training provided).
  • Complete detailed work reports with photographs and time allocation via the company’s Service Manager tablet system.
  • Complete risk assessments in line with health and safety policy and enforce safe working practices.
  • Order parts accurately in coordination with the parts department.
  • Collaborate closely with the service department and management team.
  • Perform any other duties as deemed necessary to fulfil the role.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Relevant experience and qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience with construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of various machinery, preferably in the construction or agricultural industry.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills to develop positive customer experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external interactions.
  • Effective time‑management, setting realistic timescales while maintaining safety.
  • A professional presentation at all times.
  • A full driving licence and ability to operate machinery on site for testing (training provided).
