The aviation industry is at a turning point, and MAKO is building the solution. Our mission is to save billions in fuel and slash megatons of CO2 emissions.
We need a Senior Mechatronic Engineer to drive the technical design of our manufacturing systems, ensuring every requirement is met with precision and innovation. Working closely with our Manufacturing Systems Team Lead, you will transform complex product requirements into tangible, high-performance systems. Join us and put your expertise behind a mission that matters.
What You Will Do
Lead the technical definition, design, demonstration, and delivery of robust, repeatable and reproducible manufacturing systems and processes, ensuring target yields and throughputs are met.
Drive complex manufacturing system mechanical, robotic and control systems designs, generating bill of materials and relevant design files, ensuring that manufacturing systems designed will be reliable, reproducible and meeting our Quality Management System requirements.
Define and Review tests and experiments to verify and validate manufacturing system performance using statistical reasoning.
Mentor MAKO engineers and review engineering documents.
Success Looks Like
First Month: You will be introduced to one of our core manufacturing systems. During this time you will review experimental and test documentation related to the rig. You will also get to know the team and company culture.
First Six Months: You will conduct a number of experiments, testing to select mechatronic components for the next generation rig that meets all the manufacturing criteria required for the scale manufacturing of our aviation product.
First Year: You will have completed the design, assembly testing and handover of our core manufacturing system for scale manufacturing. You will have developed a manufacturing process that will be used in our scale manufacturing production line. This process will contribute to the production of MAKO's product at scale. By this time you will be considered the subject matter expert on our mastering processes. Parallel to this you will have also been considered a mentor to many team members.
About You
Degree in a relevant discipline (Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering).
5+ years work experience in a similar or relevant field.
Highly skilled in designing mechatronic systems, familiar with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and control systems such as PLCs (Beckhoff preferable).
High attention to detail particularly for component selection in mechanical design as well as driving a problem solving process.
Had prior experience designing mechatronic systems to automate complex assembly processes.
Hands on, proactive, and solutions focused mindset with an ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Why Join MAKO
Impact
Aviation is one of the hardest to abate industries, and its share of global emissions is only growing. Join our mission to improve the efficiency of the global fleet and save millions of tonnes of CO2 every year.
Technology
Our technology leverages the drag-reducing properties of shark skin to make aircraft more efficient. You'll be exposed to expertise and developments in materials, photolithography, fluid dynamics, and scale manufacturing.
Team
Our team focuses on achieving our mission. We live our values of lift over drag, active transparency, and changing the boundary conditions, and we welcome new team members who want to do the same.
Corporate Jet
We have (most of) a corporate jet. It won't fly, but it sure does look cool.
Ready to take the next step in your career while making a global impact? Join us at MAKO and let’s get to work.
