Role Description

We are seeking an ambitious Project Cost Consultant to join our Property team in Manchester delivering significant property schemes across the North West of England. Ideal candidates will be recently RICS qualified or on the route to qualification.

Our team delivers some of the region’s largest and most exciting building projects across residential, commercial office, and sports and leisure sectors ranging from £20 m to £500 m in value, offering opportunities to work on industry leading clients.

Your role will be to provide quantity surveying support on large schemes and to lead your own schemes, working closely with Senior Directors. This position is hybrid, with 2‑3 days in office.

Role Accountabilities

  • Assisting on early‑stage (RIBA 0/1) feasibility and optioneering studies
  • Estimating and cost planning, producing and presenting the final cost plan
  • Tendering and procuring construction works, providing procurement advice to clients
  • Managing post‑contract cost variances and change control processes
  • Conducting cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
  • Producing monthly post‑contract cost reports and presenting them to clients
  • Contributing to value engineering
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages
  • Supporting team initiatives, resourcing needs, and mentoring graduates/apprentices

Qualifications & Experience

  • RICS accredited surveyor or approaching final assessment (mentorship will be provided)
  • Strong knowledge of construction technology and ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
  • Excellent quantification skills, ideally with cost measurement software such as Cost‑X
  • Commercial experience on major building projects of £1 m–£10 m+
  • Capability to work with the project lead through project life cycle
  • Strong knowledge of JCT Contracts, including preparation and administration
  • Demonstrated self‑management, prioritisation and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence and lead stakeholders; the role involves significant client‑facing duties
