Team Leader, Screening Technologies (Assistant Research Professor). The ALBORADA Drug Discovery Institute (ADDI), part of the University of Cambridge Department of Clinical Neuroscience (http://cambridge-ddi.alzheimersresearchuk.org/), seeks an experienced screening‑technology scientist to lead a team responsible for assay development and primary screening for a growing portfolio of small‑molecule drug discovery projects. The role will report to the Head of Biology and involves recruiting and supervising team members while maintaining a hands‑on laboratory approach.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team to develop automated, plate‑based screening assays (biochemical and cell‑based) for both primary and selectivity screens.
- Translate projects from academic groups into DDI laboratories and support screening, hit‑to‑lead, and lead‑optimization phases.
- Recruit, supervise, and mentor junior staff, ensuring effective project planning and execution.
- Manage large data sets, applying statistical evaluation to assess screening outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Biology and other stakeholders on project objectives and deliverables.
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant field with broad target‑class exposure.
- Extensive experience in high‑throughput screening, screening automation, and compound management.
- Proficiency in target‑based and phenotypic screening contexts.
- Strong organisation, time‑management, record‑keeping, leadership, project planning, and supervisory skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
