Your new role
As Hatchery Manager, you will report to the Breeder Hatchery Manager and take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the hatchery. You will lead and manage a team to ensure optimal performance, high-quality output, and strict adherence to compliance and biosecurity standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Managing daily hatchery operations, including egg intake, incubation, transfer, and dispatch
Organising team schedules, allocating workload, and driving performance across the department
Monitoring egg inventory levels, deliveries, and production output
Ensuring the delivery of high-quality day-old stock in line with operational targets
Managing departmental budgets and identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies
Coordinating maintenance activities and supporting preventative maintenance programmes
Enforcing company procedures, including hatchery standards and biosecurity protocols
Monitoring performance across all stages from egg receipt through to dispatch
Liaising with supply farms and production teams regarding quality and performance
Supporting ongoing continuous improvement initiatives across the site
7am to 3:30 pm. Please note there is a requirement to be on call.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience within a hatchery or similar production environment (essential)
Prior supervisory or management experience
A relevant qualification in animal science, agriculture, or a related field (desirable)
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Full clean driving licence
Flexibility to be located close to site
