Accounts Assistant

An established and growing organisation is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller to join their busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to take ownership of key transactional processes while developing their career within a supportive environment.

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Accounts, you will play a key role in the day to day running of the finance function. This is a hands on position in a fast paced environment, offering variety and responsibility across both credit control and general accounts duties.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Credit Control - managing the aged debt ledger, proactively chasing outstanding payments, resolving queries and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Sales Ledger - raising invoices and credit notes, allocating receipts, and supporting month end close
• Purchase Ledger - processing supplier invoices, coding accurately and reconciling supplier statements
• Bank Reconciliations - completing daily reconciliations across multiple banks and currencies
• General Ledger - posting journals, processing expenses and supporting wider finance tasks
• Providing ad hoc support to the Head of Accounts as required

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• 2-3 years' experience in an accounts assistant, credit control or similar transactional finance role
• A proven ability to chase and recover debt professionally while maintaining positive customer relationships
• Strong working knowledge of accounting software, ideally Sage 50 Accounts
• Confident Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and pivot tables
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues
• The ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
