The role

Reed Public Sector is currently recruiting an experienced Housing Advice & Homelessness Team Leader to support the delivery of a high-performing frontline housing service for a Local Authority in Berkshire. This is an interim opportunity ideal for candidates with strong statutory homelessness experience who can hit the ground running.

You will lead a team delivering housing advice and homelessness casework, ensuring compliance with legislation, high service standards, and excellent outcomes for residents.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a frontline housing advice and homelessness service, ensuring statutory duties are met
  • Act as escalation point for complex and high-risk cases
  • Provide day-to-day management, supervision, and coaching to staff
  • Interpret and apply housing and welfare legislation, providing clear case direction
  • Monitor service expenditure, including temporary accommodation and prevention spend
  • Chair action-focused, multi-agency case conferences
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment, including internal and external partners
  • Maintain quality assurance, performance monitoring, and service resilience

About you

You will be an experienced housing professional with strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of homelessness legislation. You will be confident managing staff, budgets, and complex cases in a fast-paced environment.

Essential experience

  • Experience leading a frontline housing or homelessness service at Team Leader level
  • Strong knowledge of housing and welfare legislation
  • Proven line management experience, including coaching and staff support
  • Experience of budget monitoring and expenditure control
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • Experience of chairing action-focused case conferences
  • Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid working environment
