Managing Associate – Family Team

The Family Team at Mishcon de Reya are looking to hire a Managing Associate at 6‑8 PQE level to become part of our busy and well‑regarded team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all client work allocated by the Partners and other solicitors within the Group and sometimes across the wider Department.
  • Demonstrate excellent case management skills and be able to run client matters (or parts of larger matters) with minimal assistance from Partners.
  • Be client focused with an ability to command the trust and confidence of our clients who expect a first‑class service.
  • Be able to lead and supervise more junior members of the team under supervision from the Partners.
  • Show an interest in mentoring and supporting junior team members with their professional development both formally (through internal training sessions) and informally.
  • Be comfortable with undertaking business development both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in meeting standard hours for time recording and consistently contributes within their group.
  • Demonstrate the ability to secure repeat work from internal and/or external clients by technical ability.
  • Maintain clear communication links with colleagues in the Firm.
  • Ensure good working relationships with colleagues, clients and external organisations.

Areas of Work Covered

  • Pre‑nuptial and post‑nuptial agreements.
  • Cohabitation agreements.
  • Divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships.
  • Financial remedies on divorce/dissolution, including dealing with family businesses, complex trust structures and international issues.
  • Disputes concerning the arrangements for children, including applications for leave to remove.
  • Relationship breakdown of unmarried couples, including cohabitee disputes under TLATA 1996 and applications for financial relief on behalf of a children under Schedule 1 Children Act 1989.
  • Domestic abuse, including applications for non‑molestation orders and occupation orders, and issues concerning coercive control.
  • Surrogacy and assisted reproduction.

  • 6+ PQE gained within Family law.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Personable and confident, able to build relationships with partners/key stakeholders.

  • A great communicator, with the ability to translate between the technical and plain English.
