A vacancy has arisen for a Project Engineer based in our Harwich office.
The key purpose of this position is to manage engineering maintenance and project activity at Harwich including aspects that are mechanical, electrical and control system related. Be able to identify improvements, work up ideas of others into schemes for Management of Change and Capex approval.
Deliver the safe implementation of projects and maintenance on time and to budget. Maintain and update engineering records including operating procedures, maintenance inspection schedules and equipment registers.
Responsibilities
- Manage aspects of compliance inspection and reliability maintenance activity. Manage aspects of project and improvement activity from concept to implementation and commissioning
- Provide clarity for employees and contractors regarding planned work activity including drawings, engineering work plans, safe methods of work and competence of those undertaking the work.
- Maintain, update and review engineering records including procedures, autocad drawings (eg PIDs, wiring diagrams), SAP Plant maintenance inventory, work orders, task instructions and maintenance plans.
- Prepare financial proposals for approval. Negotiate deliverables and costs with customers and gain mutual consent. Manage delivery against agreed budget and timescale.
- Assist with engineering procurement processes including drawing up specifications, getting quotes and raising purchase requisitions
- In accordance with OHSAS 18,001 ensure all contractors comply with relevant H&S requirements and have appropriate insurance, safety documentation, worker competency and compliant equipment.
- To comply with all processes and procedures covered by accreditation to ISO9001, 14001 and 18001.
- Assist the engineering and maintenance department to implement improved systems and procedures for example through better use of SAP and information technology, organization of stock inventory, and use of planning
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Level 4 / HNC qualification / NVQ in engineering / maintenance operations as a minimum.
- Experience of maintenance management and or project work in a process industry preferred ideally multi-discipline.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and operational staff.
- Experience of working within or understanding of health & safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities whilst keeping an eye on the detail.
- Willingness to train and learn new skills.
