We are now seeking experienced Principal Methods Engineers to play a key technical leadership role, driving innovative, safe and efficient construction methodologies across complex projects. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives on engineering challenge and wants to influence project delivery from concept through to completion.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development of construction methodologies, temporary works solutions and sequencing strategies for complex structural and civil engineering projects.

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to Methods Engineers and Design teams, ensuring consistency, quality and innovation in deliverables.

  • Produce and review detailed method statements, lift plans, temporary works designs and construction sequencing documentation.

  • Collaborate closely with project delivery, engineering, commercial and preconstruction teams to ensure methodologies are practical, efficient and aligned with project objectives.

  • Support bid and tender activities by developing methodologies, programmes and technical solutions that strengthen competitive submissions.

  • Assess buildability, risk and opportunities at all stages of the project lifecycle, driving value engineering and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure all methods and temporary works comply with relevant standards, legislation and best practice, maintaining Kilnbridge’s high safety standards.

  • Engage with clients, consultants and key stakeholders to present and justify proposed methodologies and engineering solutions.

  • Provide mentorship and development support to junior engineers, helping to build technical capability across the business.

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, innovation and the continuous enhancement of Kilnbridge’s methods engineering capability.

What You’ll Need

  • Significant experience in a methods engineering or temporary works design role within construction, civil engineering or structural engineering.

  • Strong technical expertise in construction methodologies, sequencing, temporary works and heavy structural engineering.

  • Proven ability to develop practical, safe and innovative engineering solutions for complex projects.

  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, buildings or specialist structural schemes.

  • Strong understanding of relevant design standards, codes of practice and health & safety regulations.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting tenders and preconstruction activities, including methodology development and programme input.

  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support engineering teams.

  • Proficient in MS Office and familiar with relevant engineering and design software.

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification; working towards or holding professional membership (e.g. ICE or IStructE) desirable.
