Salary: £39,152 – £40,777 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

Role Overview
Join Ipswich Borough Council at the start of Local Plan making journey under a new plan‑making system and progress a programme of town centre regeneration.
Ipswich is a fast‑growing regional centre and the largest in Suffolk for business, culture, entertainment and sports. The Council prioritises the delivery of a Town Centre Strategy and supports the Ipswich City of Culture bid.
Responsibilities
- Shape a new people‑centred Town Centre Strategy and prepare evidence base studies.
- Monitor and engage to progress the strategy into the next Ipswich Local Plan due to commence in 2026.
- Work collaboratively with neighbouring local authorities and Suffolk County Council on strategic planning matters.
- Provide analysis, support other officers, produce report writing, and manage projects.
- Write guidance to expand planning policy and deliver allocations and regeneration by working with developers, site owners, and in master‑planning larger sites.
- Work closely with the Council’s Development Management team.
Qualifications
- a relevant degree or post‑graduate diploma or an NVQ Level 6 qualification in planning or a relevant field
- ideally Local Plan making experience
- experience or strong interest in town centre policy, regeneration and place‑based planning
- effective project management and workload skills
- strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with key stakeholders
