Senior Surveyor / Associate
Background
The Development and Regeneration Team delivers sustainable and commercially robust development advice to a diverse portfolio of private and public sector clients. Our team provides strategic guidance across the entire development lifecycle – from commercial positioning, viability and feasibility analysis, design and planning, through to deal structuring, development partner procurement and disposal. We are sector agnostic, advising on residential, commercial and mixed‑use developments ranging from single assets to large‑scale masterplans. The team is currently advising on a number of high‑profile regeneration schemes across London and the South East.
Role
This role offers an ideal opportunity for an ambitious Senior Surveyor or Associate Director to develop their career within a collaborative and dynamic team. You will provide development and capital markets advice to a wide range of public and private sector clients, working on varied projects that shape places and communities whilst building your technical expertise, commercial acumen, and client‑facing capabilities. A good grounding in residential and/or commercial property and strong financial analysis skills are essential requirements, together with excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will work on a wide range of projects for landowners and developers, from strategic consulting assignments, highest and best use analysis and master‑planning input, through to the acquisition and disposal of development properties, often in conjunction with investment, agency and sector‑specific colleagues across JLL.
Requirements
- MRICS qualified (or equivalent)
- Ideally 4+ years of relevant property experience
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability
- Experience in residential and/or commercial development, with understanding of regeneration principles
- A good working knowledge of Excel, Argus Developer and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of planning policy, development processes, and UK property markets (London and South East focus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present complex information clearly to clients and colleagues
- Strong financial analysis skills and commercial awareness
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the implementation and management of development consulting projects, ensuring delivery of service to clients and managing client relationships
- Prepare development appraisals, viability assessments, and highest and best use analyses for landowners, developers, and public sector clients
- Produce high‑quality written reports, presentations, and advisory documents for clients and stakeholders
- Support the acquisition and disposal of development sites, often working in conjunction with investment, agency, and residential colleagues
- Work collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams including architects, planning consultants, legal advisers, cost consultants, and other external specialists
- Contribute to new business generation through relationship building and pitch support
- Supervise and coach junior members of the team
