The role of a Relief Universal Operative is to work from a base location and as required, support other locations throughout their working week as required for service continuity within school, cleaning, school crossing and kitchens in the area.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of school crossing patrol, cleaning and catering services to ensure that SLA’s are met and working towards the continuous improvement of service delivery and the performance of the FM team.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out general cleaning duties ensuring high standards are maintained while adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
Catering duties will include assisting in basic food preparation and service of all foods in
compliance with the Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drinks in schools (Scotland)
Regulations 2008, compliance with all the relevant legislation as required and setting up/clearing away equipment for food service. The post holder’s duties will include general cleaning to a high standard including crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, kitchen and dining room areas, staff rest room and toilets. The post holder will require to adhere to Food Safety System, Safe Systems of work and Health and Safety Legislation. Knowledge of such legislations would be an advantage, as would previous experience in this type of work.
You will be required to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians crossing the road. You must wear the appropriate uniform and use the equipment provided to ensure the safety of children, pedestrians and yourself.
The successful candidate should be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here .
