THE ROLE
This is a broad and varied senior finance position reporting to an experienced financial leader at the top of the organisation. You will take full ownership of financial reporting, controls and compliance for a significant part of the business, while also supporting strategic decision-making through timely, accurate management information. Day to day you will work across everything from ledger oversight and reconciliations to budgeting, forecasting and KPI reporting. If you are a qualified accountant who wants genuine ownership of a finance function rather than a narrow, task-focused role this is worth a conversation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the production of monthly management accounts and deliver clear, insightful financial commentary to senior leadership
- Drive the annual budgeting and forecasting process, challenging assumptions and ensuring commercial alignment
- Manage treasury activity including cashflow forecasting, foreign currency exposure and bank reconciliations across multiple currencies
- Ensure full compliance with VAT obligations and support all year-end statutory reporting requirements
- Oversee the integrity of the ledgers, credit control function and stock accounting
- Develop and embed financial controls and process improvements across the function
- Produce monthly KPI packs and performance reports tailored to the needs of senior stakeholders
- Coach and supervise junior finance staff, supporting their development and day-to-day output
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Essential
- Fully qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience
- Solid, hands-on experience across management accounts, month-end close and financial reporting
- Confidence working in a multi-currency environment with exposure to foreign exchange
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting ERP systems
- A natural problem-solver commercially minded, organised and able to work under pressure
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
Nice to Have
- Experience leading or mentoring a small finance team
- Exposure to tax compliance or working knowledge of indirect taxes
