We are exclusively engaged on a search for a senior Financial Controller to join a prestigious UK alternative investment manager with a strong track record in real assets. This is a leadership role with great exposure to board level leadership in the business. The role is largely focused on supporting one of the firms flagship listed funds but will also oversee a number of legacy private / core funds.
The role will take ownership of financial reporting, controls and treasury activity for key funds instrumental to the business continued success and growth. Working closely with senior stakeholders internally and a wide range of external advisers, this position offers genuine breadth, responsibility and influence within a sophisticated funds environment. It will be working within a great collegiate environment. The company pride themselves on offering a genuinely enjoyable environment to work in. This will be working very closely alongside the CFO.
The role will require individuals to be in the office four days but offer a genuinely understand and flexible environment for those that need it / where required in terms of late starts, early finishes. The base rule though is four days in the office non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial reporting for listed alternative investment funds, including semi‑annual and annual IFRS accounts
- Manage audit processes end‑to‑end, acting as a senior point of contact for external auditors and advisors
- Oversee quarterly management accounts, board reporting and statutory entity reporting
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, processes and financial controls across complex fund and SPV structures
- Provide oversight of treasury activity, including cash management, FX hedging and banking relationships
- Manage relationships with third‑party administrators, depositaries and service providers across multiple jurisdictions
- Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, covenant and financial reporting requirements
- Lead, develop and mentor a high‑calibre finance team
- Support the establishment of new investment vehicles and ongoing structural initiatives
- Partner with the wider business to drive process improvement and efficiency
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Significant post‑qualification experience within asset management, investment companies or funds
- Strong experience of listed funds within private equity, infrastructure, real assets or a closely related strategy
- Deep technical knowledge of IFRS and listed fund reporting requirements
- Proven experience managing audits and complex external stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrable people leadership experience within a finance function
- Strong commercial mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to operate confidently in a high‑profile, delivery‑focused environment
