A well-established and growing UK accountancy group is seeking a Senior Accounts & Tax Manager to take full responsibility for a regional office.
The Senior Accounts & Tax Manager Opportunity
This role sits at the heart of the practice, with accountability across client delivery, people leadership, operations, and compliance. You will act as the senior leader on-site, driving performance, embedding standards, and ensuring a consistently high-quality client experience.

A key part of the role will be translating financial data into meaningful commercial insight, helping clients identify opportunities for growth, improve profitability, and make confident strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Performance
- Take ownership of day‑to‑day site performance across service delivery, operations, and compliance
- Set and maintain high standards for quality, turnaround times, and client experience
- Lead from the front, fostering a high‑performance, values‑driven culture
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Embed a mindset of commercial awareness within the team, ensuring outputs go beyond compliance into value‑added insight
- Drive structured performance management and continuous development
- Support hiring and scaling of the team as the business grows
Client Management
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Lead client meetings, providing clear financial insights, forward‑looking analysis, and practical recommendations
- Act as a trusted adviser, helping clients understand key drivers of performance, cash flow, and profitability
- Identify opportunities to support client growth, including efficiencies, cost control, and strategic planning
- Manage and resolve escalations effectively and professionally
Technical Oversight
- Oversee delivery of statutory accounts, management accounts, and financial reporting
- Ensure outputs include clear commentary, KPIs, and practical commercial insights
- Ensure accuracy and compliance across bookkeeping, VAT, and payroll
- Maintain high standards aligned with UK accounting regulations
Compliance & Operations
- Ensure adherence to HMRC, Companies House, and GDPR requirements
- Support digital compliance initiatives including Making Tax Digital
- Drive operational improvements, standardisation, and scalable processes
About You
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
- Proven experience within a UK accountancy practice (minimum 5 years)
- Strong leadership background, with experience managing and developing teams
- In‑depth knowledge of UK GAAP, compliance, and regulatory frameworks
- Commercially minded, with the ability to interpret financials into strategic insight
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders
- Comfortable using modern accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
