Overview
An established, purpose-driven professional organisation is seeking a Head of Finance to lead its finance function and support strategic decision-making at a senior level.
This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape financial strategy, drive operational excellence, and partner with stakeholders across the organisation, including senior leadership and Board-level audiences.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will oversee all operational aspects of finance, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and insightful reporting. You will act as a trusted business partner, helping to guide future growth and organisational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the preparation of monthly and annual financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and clarity
- Managing budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
- Providing strategic financial insight to support decision-making across the organisation
- Overseeing financial accounting operations, including payables, receivables, and general ledger
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory, tax, and audit requirements
- Managing treasury activities, cash flow, and relationships with financial institutions
- Driving improvements in financial systems, processes, and controls, including implementation of new systems
- Supporting payroll and benefits processes in collaboration with HR
- Line management of a small finance team
About You
You will be a qualified accountant with strong technical expertise and a proactive, collaborative approach.
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proven experience in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Ability to influence and partner with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong systems skills and experience improving financial processes
- High attention to detail and a solutions-focused mindset
- Experience managing finance operations and/or teams
- Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector
- Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt style to different audiences
- A collaborative and relationship-focused approach
