Manager, Architecture & Engineering Design – UK Project
Job Summary:Oversees and manages the Architectural and Engineering design and construction administration effort within a specific area of a project, as well as the resources, finances, and schedule of that project.
Major Responsibilities
- Attends weekly project meetings and coordinates between Architecture and Engineering vendors and ride/show vendors, including the development of all preliminary final facility impacts.
- Monitors construction in the field, identifies and resolves discrepancies between construction and drawings/design intent, manages and responds to requests for information, evaluates vendor responses, and prepares modification documents.
- Manages Architecture and Engineering vendors throughout design and construction phases, ensuring creative design intent is maintained during preparation of design documents by vendors and other outside parties.
- Develops the design strategy to achieve quality deliverables within schedule and budget, creates a complete cost‑effective and constructible set of drawings and specifications, and reviews drawings and specs to ensure they meet design intent and creative appearance.
- Prepares Architecture and Engineering scope of work / request for proposal documents, selects and pre‑qualifies vendors, handles proposal questions/clarifications, analyzes proposals, and recommends vendors.
- Prepares the Architecture/Engineering schedule for facility design and ensures vendors maintain required schedule and milestone delivery dates promptly.
- Prepares weekly and monthly progress reports on project status and other Architecture/Engineering design efforts.
- Manages vendor contractual obligations, evaluates requests for additional services, prepares directives, negotiates changes, and incorporates agreed changes into vendor agreements.
- Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of forecasting and budget allocation techniques, strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent analytical and organisational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Licensed Architect or Engineer.
- Extensive turn‑key project experience, specifically within the entertainment/theme park industry.
- Supervisory and contract/vendor management experience.
- Hand and computer drawing and drafting skills required. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and PowerPoint required; or equivalent education and experience.
