Fincrime Advisory Manager

Role Overview

This is a pivotal role within our Line 2 Financial Crime function, responsible for providing independent review, advice, and constructive challenge to the business to ensure financial crime risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed in line with our risk appetite and regulatory obligations. The role works in close partnership with Line 1 to enable sustainable business growth while maintaining strong financial crime controls and client protections.

You will be part of a specialist advisory team delivering timely, pragmatic guidance on financial crime risks across products, clients, and strategic initiatives, embedding risk management into commercial decision‑making. The role also helps to drive consistent oversight, escalation, and thematic insights to senior management, helping ensure financial crime risk is managed in a way that supports innovation and growth while safeguarding the firm and its clients.

  • Supporting effective management of financial crime risks across products and clients in line with risk appetite.
  • Providing timely, high‑quality Line 2 support and advice to the business.
  • Supporting effective handling and escalation of high‑risk or suspicious matters, including breaches.
  • Contributing to effective embedding of financial crime policies and controls across Line 1.
  • Demonstrating strong individual performance and engagement.
  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with business and control stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advisory, Review & Support
    • Support Line 2 review and provide advice on product, customer, and business initiatives, including new or changed products and processes.
    • Assist in assessing financial crime risks arising from new or evolving business activities and support identification of appropriate controls.
    • Work with Line 1 teams to help ensure financial crime risks are managed in line with risk appetite while supporting business delivery.
  • Oversight, Escalations & Risk Assessment
    • Support review of high‑risk or escalated customer cases and financial crime risk decisions.
    • Assist with assessment and escalation of potential suspicious activity in line with internal procedures.
    • Support Line 1 in identifying, assessing, and reporting financial crime breaches and control weaknesses, and track remediation actions.
    • Contribute to analysis of financial crime trends, risks, and control gaps through thematic or ad‑hoc reviews.
  • Framework, Policy & Capability Support
    • Support ongoing improvement of financial crime risk management practices and controls across the business.
    • Assist in implementation and embedding of financial crime policies, standards, and frameworks across Line 1.
    • Support delivery of financial crime awareness and training initiatives.
    • Contribute to regulatory reporting, internal governance reporting, and other financial crime risk management processes.

Requirements

  • Experience & Education
    • 3–5 years’ financial crime experience in financial services, with exposure to trading products (FX, indices, shares, derivatives) preferred.
    • Good working knowledge of UK financial crime regulations, with exposure to other jurisdictions an advantage.
    • Experience supporting implementation or operation of financial crime controls and frameworks, with understanding of market practice.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, Economics or related field.
