Job Description Overview

The Energy Unit’s Transmission & Distribution division is recruiting Electrical Engineers (Senior/Principal) to support client projects from inception through to commissioning.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide technical solutions and project leadership in the production of electrical designs for major infrastructure works.
  • Contribute to bids and proposals, project planning and delivery to a high standard.
  • Manage engineering projects and deliverables, ensuring they meet client expectations, statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Support and develop junior staff and graduates.
  • Lead site surveys, validate project deliverables, and interface with procurement and contract awards such as NEC PSC.
  • Configure and design LV and MV networks up to 33kV, execute cable sizing, routing, termination, and substation layouts.
  • Interpret client standards and DNO regulations, provide earthing, protection, arc‑flash design, and review peer submissions.

Candidate Specification

  • Chartered engineer in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional qualification and proven experience in renewable power, network design, grid connection, and related sectors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating across internal and external disciplines.
  • Skilled in electrical project engineering for LV to 33kV infrastructure.
  • Competent in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
  • Initiative, self‑motivation and decision‑making confidence.
