Location: Greenock Road, Bishopton PA7 5PW

Salary: £66,456 – £72,846 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Position Type: Full‑time

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

Pattern of work: Monday to Friday 9am–5pm plus regular SMT backup on‑call and out‑of‑hours responsibilities

Role Overview

We are looking for a caring, skilled, creative and experienced leader who is committed to our vision of being a truly trauma‑responsive place of safety, where children in our care and the adults who support them can reach their maximum potential.

The Head of Operations, Resources and Business Development will be a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and will lead the operational functioning of the Good Shepherd Centre (GSC), ensuring evidence‑based workforce development, planning, and compliance with legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold the vision and values of GSC, working in partnership with young people, families, colleagues and the Board of Trustees to realise ambitious plans for change and growth.
  • Lead workforce and resource planning, ensuring effective guidance, support, professional supervision, training, skills development and performance evaluation for all staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective operational policies across Finance, Facilities, Administration, Quality Assurance and service support functions, including Health & Safety and ICT & Information Management.
  • Line‑manage senior staff heading Finance, Facilities, Operations, Administration, Quality Assurance and service support.
  • Ensure GSC operates in line with all relevant legislation and best practice guidance in relation to safe staffing of secure care and close support residential care services.
  • Drive workforce and resource mapping and ensure alignment with the centre’s strategic goals.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a positive, compassionate, strengths‑based, relational approach, encouraging a culture of whole‑centre community and respecting the dignity, needs and rights of each individual.

Legal and Compliance

Positions are regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. All candidates must comply with the PVG Scheme requirements and may need an Overseas Criminal Record Check.
