We are looking to appoint a junior Solicitor to work alongside John Kiff and his team in Leeds.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate immediate land acquisition deals, strategic option agreements, promotion agreements and ancillary documentation such as transfers, overage deeds, and funding agreements for a range of national and regional housebuilder clients.
- Act for property developers on brownfield regeneration schemes, including joint ventures with registered providers and/or public sector bodies.
- Represent housebuilder clients in large‑scale disposals of affordable housing to registered providers and the bulk sale of units to private residential and social housing providers.
- Attend and assist in client training and business‑development events.
Team
The team is the leading residential development and urban regeneration legal team in the country, acting for 18 of the top 20 UK housebuilders, institutional landowners such as Oxford University, and other large‑scale participants. The team is over 240 strong and works across eight offices in England.
Person
We look for a personable, self‑motivated, and confident individual who has just started their legal career and is eager to develop within a large, growing team. The candidate should be commercially aware, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, with daily interaction with colleagues and clients at all levels.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Ambition to build and grow a network of clients within professional services.
- Strong teamwork ethic and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Drive, commitment, self‑motivation and a “can‑do” attitude.
- Ability to exercise discretion and professionalism at all times.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Residential experience helpful, but not essential for a candidate with a solid background in commercial real estate.
Benefits
We offer a competitive remuneration package with an opportunity to receive an annual bonus and a comprehensive training programme covering technical legal, transaction management and soft skills. The comprehensive rewards package includes annual leave (with the option to purchase extra days), cycle‑to‑work scheme, critical illness benefit, employee assistance programme, group personal pension, health care, season‑ticket loan and other benefits that are grade dependent.
