The BCM Specialist Modelling team within Deloitte's Audit & Assurance practice is a rapidly evolving team providing specialist analytics services to banking and capital market clients. The team caters to a range of data solutions including modelling, model reviews, data assurance, profiling and visualisations.

You will be an integral part of a market-leading team, collaborating with international colleagues to deliver analytical solutions to a broad spectrum of clients, from leading UK financial institutions to emerging FinTech companies.

Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of Audit and Assurance clients.
  • Provide direction and oversight to teams, and sign off deliverables.
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders across the firm and at the client.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and own effective execution.
  • Oversee and guide engagements, managing senior team members, deliverables, timelines and client interactions.
  • Conduct performance reviews, give constructive feedback and support career development of staff.
  • Lead teams in delivering analytics and modelling services using SQL, Python, Tableau, and VBA to provide insights to clients.
  • Lead advanced analytics and modelling services, including model testing, data analysis, quality reviews, report generation and visualisation across trading and banking books.
  • Integrate analytics more deeply into the external audit approach and embed analytics into clients’ business and culture.
  • Develop and deliver innovative analytics tools to meet evolving audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to Audit & Assurance analytics thought leadership and strategy, and promote initiatives.
  • Lead go‑to‑market initiatives, including proposal development and client pitches.
  • Build and develop long‑term relationships with client stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance or Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience within an analytics or modelling team in financial services, gained in a professional services firm or FTSE 350 company.
  • End‑to‑end project management expertise, covering scope definition, resource allocation, budget management, delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with experience reviewing code, analytical outputs and documentation.
  • Strong track record of mentoring, coaching and developing both junior and senior team members.
  • Experience leading, motivating and managing diverse project teams.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Excel and at least one other programming language such as Python, SQL, VBA or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of one or more financial asset classes (e.g., derivatives, loans, mortgages).
  • Experience developing or validating cash‑flow models.
  • Ability to analyse complex business problems, develop innovative solutions, and translate technical findings into strategic recommendations.
  • Strong client relationship skills, identifying needs and contributing to business development.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, presenting technical information clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Understanding of risk‑management principles and experience embedding controls and governance in analytical models.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CQF, FRM, CFA, ACA, CIMA).
  • Experience with cloud‑based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or big‑data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as BCBS239, IFRS 9, Basel IV, Solvency II or CRD V.
  • Experience applying advanced analytical techniques (statistical modelling, machine learning, optimisation) to complex financial problems.
  • Experience with machine‑learning or AI techniques in a financial services context.
  • Experience with advanced data visualisation tools (Power BI, Qlik Sense).
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
