Senior CAD/CAM Programmer

Senior CAD/CAM Programmer required to work for a groundbreaking business based near Woking. This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer to join a high‑precision machining environment.
Responsibilities
- Create, optimise and validate CNC programs for 3‑axis, 4‑axis and simultaneous 5‑axis machining
- Develop machining strategies for complex geometries and tight‑tolerance parts
- Generate complete CAM documentation including tooling lists, setup sheets and machining sequences
- Simulate, verify and prove programs to eliminate collisions and minimise cycle times
- Select appropriate tooling and machining strategies for aluminium, copper, stainless steel and exotic materials
- Support machining teams during prove‑out, first‑off and production runs
- Troubleshoot machining issues quickly and effectively to minimise machine downtime
- Work closely with production, quality and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focusing on cycle time reduction, tool life and process stability
- Support both internal and external customers with complex and bespoke machining requirements
- Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) and fast‑turnaround projects
- Provide technical input to feasibility reviews, quotations and manufacturing planning
- Act as a senior technical resource for complex CAD/CAM and machining challenges
- Apply strong problem‑solving skills to deliver solutions under time pressure
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality and consistency in all programming activities
Qualifications
- Subcon manufacturing experience as opposed to production only
- Extensive experience as a CAD/CAM Programmer in a high‑precision machining environment
- Proven experience programming 3, 4 and 5‑axis CNC machines, including complex multi‑axis work
- Strong proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, PowerMill, HyperMill, NX or CATIA
- Excellent understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling and cutting parameters
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Ability to perform effectively in a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment
- Experience within aerospace, motorsport, medical, defence or advanced engineering sectors
- Familiarity with CNC controls such as Mazatrol, Fanuc, Siemens or Heidenhain
- Experience with low‑volume, high‑complexity or fast‑turnaround work
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 or similar quality systems
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering or equivalent experience
- Time‑served apprenticeship in CNC machining or manufacturing engineering (desirable)
