Lead Software Engineer

Up to £90,000 per annum plus bonus.

Milton Keynes (Twice a week on site).

VIQU has partnered with a growing SaaS organisation that is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to play a key role in shaping the technical direction of the product while leading a team of five software engineers. This is largely a player‑coach role (30% management, 70% architecture and coding), providing an opportunity to set engineering standards during a pivotal growth stage and to influence technical strategy while remaining hands‑on.

Experience required:

  • Background in modern .NET/C# development and architecture.
  • Track record of leading and mentoring teams of engineers.
  • Cloud experience with AWS (Lambda, S3, SNS, API Gateway, event‑driven architecture).
  • Experience with React or Angular.
  • Experience with testing frameworks and quality engineering practices (unit and integration testing, test‑driven development).
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Previously implemented AI‑driven coding efficiencies within teams.
  • Knowledge of Docker and containerised applications.
  • Hands‑on experience with serverless cloud architecture is a nice to have.

Duties of the Lead Software Engineer:

  • Lead a team of five engineers within a scaled agile environment.
  • Conduct code and architecture reviews to maintain consistency, quality and maintainability while remaining hands‑on in the code.
  • Embed robust testing practices (TDD, integration testing, BDD) and drive automation across regression suites.
  • Design and architect solutions using CQRS and event‑driven architecture patterns.
  • Work within AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, event‑based services).
  • Explore and introduce AI‑related efficiencies.
