Commercial Litigation Solicitor / FCILEx – Cardiff or Remote
Location: Cardiff or Remote (UK based)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 (dependent on experience)

A national law firm is seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Solicitor or FCILEx. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied and challenging caseload of complex contractual disputes for both Claimants and Defendants.

The Role

You will manage a diverse portfolio of technically complex contractual matters, acting for clients across commercial and consumer sectors. Work sources include both LEI and privately funded instructions. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a personal caseload, high value contractual disputes
  • Advising on commercial contracts, consumer contracts, misrepresentation, professional negligence and building disputes
  • Taking full responsibility for case strategy and day to day client relationships
  • Supervising and supporting a small number of junior case handlers
  • Working collaboratively within a supportive, cooperative team environment
  • Handling costs matters, including pre costs work and detailed assessment

Essential

  • Strong technical knowledge and practical experience across a broad range of contract based disputes
  • Ability to take full ownership of cases and strategic direction
  • Experience supervising junior team members, including providing guidance and resolving complaints
  • Ability to work flexibly with a wide range of clients and business partners
  • Experience dealing with costs issues
  • A commercial, pragmatic and intellectually curious approach
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to team development

Desirable

  • Experience working with insurance funded clients
  • Experience in business development

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FCILEx or equivalent experience
