LITIGATION LAWYER – SHARED SERVICES

Salary: Up to £58,451.12 p.a.
Location: Broxbourne Borough Council and East Herts District Council
Contract: Permanent
Working pattern: Full Time
Hours: 37 hours per week
DBS check: Enhanced
Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day management of the Council’s litigation service.
- Handle a varied and often complex caseload, including housing possessions, anti‑social behaviour, debt recovery, commercial property litigation, fly‑tipping, licensing matters, planning enforcement and other related matters.
- Represent the Council in County Court and Magistrate Court proceedings.
- Deliver a responsive, trusted and customer‑focused in‑house legal service.
- Manage complex workloads efficiently and support colleagues.
- Build rapport with a wide variety of stakeholders, including members of the public.
Qualifications
- Post‑qualification experience in litigation work.
- Excellent knowledge of court proceedings and strong advocacy skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Desirable: experience working within a local government environment.
- Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and to provide advice in fluent English.
- Disclosure and barring service check (working with children or vulnerable clients).
