We are seeking a strategic and inspiring Senior Director, Customer Engagement to lead a group of forward-deployed engineering teams within Commercial IT. This role will be accountable for shaping and delivering the technology capabilities that bring together CRM, MarTech, and Content into a connected customer engagement ecosystem, enabling our Customer 2030 vision and supporting Ambition 2030.
This leader will operate at the intersection of business strategy, product thinking, and engineering execution, partnering closely with Commercial, Enterprise AI and Enterprise Technology teams to accelerate delivery of customer-centric solutions. The role is critical to modernising how we plan, orchestrate, personalise, and measure customer engagement across channels and markets.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience leading technology organisations in Commercial IT, digital customer engagement within a dynamic enterprise environment. They will have a strong background of translating business strategy into technology roadmaps and delivering enterprise-scale solutions that develop measurable impact. They should have deep expertise across CRM, marketing technology, and content platforms, with strong understanding of how these capabilities combine to support omnichannel engagement, customer journeys, personalization, and content effectiveness. Experience leading engineering, platform, or product-aligned delivery teams is essential, as is the ability to operate effectively across business and technical domains.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong people leadership, including experience building and developing high-performing global teams, leading through change, and creating an inclusive and collaborative culture. They should also bring strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and align diverse teams around a common vision. Experience with modern software engineering practices, agile delivery, integration patterns, and enterprise governance is important, along with sound understanding of risk, privacy, security, and compliance in a regulated environment.
When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility. Join us in our unique and ambitious world.
The successful candidate will have access to a flexible employee benefits fund, including holiday purchase and flexible time off, pension contributions, Share Save Plans, A performance recognition scheme and a competitive, generous remuneration package.
Our mission is to build an inclusive and equitable environment. We want people to feel they belong at AstraZeneca and Alexion, starting with our recruitment process. We welcome and consider applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of characteristics. We offer reasonable adjustments/accommodations to help all candidates to perform at their best.
