Mid and East Antrim is a vibrant Borough in Northern Ireland, offering a rich history and heritage, a proven track record of industry and innovation, and opportunities to enjoy a high quality of life filled with nature, culture, sport, and leisure.
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has embarked on a programme of transformational change to ensure that the organisation has the agility, structures, processes, and strategic leadership in place to deliver on our ambitious plans. This improvement journey is aimed at enhancing service delivery, modernising ways of working, increasing efficiencies plus fostering stronger community engagement.
We are now seeking to appoint two Assistant Directors to the leadership team who will report to and support Directors in delivery of our ambitious plans and help shape a bright future for the Borough and our residents. We want experienced senior managers who can help reshape the Council to meet the areas future needs and manage strong, collaborative directorate teams to drive a positive organisational culture rooted in shared values and behaviours. Successful candidates will create an environment where staff are motivated to deliver high-quality services and inform and support strategic decision-making – ensuring that Council remains responsive and effective in meeting the needs of its residents.
Assistant Director roles will focus on leadership and collective responsibility – with a portfolio of services assigned on appointment. Current vacancies in portfolio roles sit within the People Directorate which includes services:
- Community Engagement to include Community Relations / Community Harmony including Peace Plus; Community Services; Employment Support; Indoor Leisure; Outdoor Leisure (including sports development); Safeguarding; Emergency Planning; Community Safety; Community Health and Wellbeing;
- Tourism and Visitor Experience; Grants and Funding; Arts and Culture; Heritage; Events; Civic Events and Theatre
Council has developed an agile operating model and in future portfolio responsibilities may change across People and Growth & Major Projects portfolio.
