Immigration Level 2 Accredited Solicitor / Director (2 positions)
A Legal500, leading law firm is looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Immigration Level 2 Solicitor / Director for a permanent position with the ability to manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers.
Background
Our client's Immigration lawyers have an established reputation for acting for high net‑worth individuals, new and established business people, and innovative skilled individuals under the Tier 1 visa categories. The department includes highly skilled lawyers who have trained as barristers and handle complex appeal cases up to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. The department offers a wide range of services to European Economic Area (EEA) and non‑EEA individuals and families wishing to enter, remain, or settle in the UK. They also have extensive experience in asylum claims and challenging human‑rights violations for unaccompanied minors and victims of torture, trafficking, and domestic abuse.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Board and collaborate to ensure performance targets are met.
- Manage all aspects of immigration work, providing technical expertise and guidance to team members.
- Supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, assigning appropriate caseload types and complexities.
- Assist with delivery of training and development within the department.
- Handle a variety of immigration work, including detained clients, victims of trafficking & torture, asylum work from initial applications through to Tribunal and higher court appeals, entry clearance applications and appeals, and some judicial review work.
- Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency.
- Draft documents such as witness statements and process evidence.
- Prepare applications to meet Home Office requirements, including drafting application forms, indexes of documents, and letters of representation.
- Attend conferences and court.
- Employ a professional, proactive approach, strong client‑care skills and interest in business development and marketing to supplement work volumes.
Key Skills Required
- Clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying.
- Registered with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Law Accreditation (Level 2 membership).
- Commitment and drive to provide excellent service to clients.
- Strong management skills.
- Team‑player who fosters a culture of positive change and encourages cross‑referrals.
- Previous supervisory experience and ability to meet key performance indicators.
- Professional, proactive approach with excellent client‑care skills and sensitivity to vulnerable client matters.
- Excellent networking and communication skills with ability to market the firm and generate new business.
- Working knowledge of publicly funded immigration work and ability to handle privately funded cases.
- Extensive experience dealing with all immigration matters, including adoption matters.
- Advocacy experience an advantage.
- Excellent IT skills – familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and document management.
