Overview

The Business Tax practice at Deloitte offers an exciting opportunity to join our national tax reporting and audit team based throughout the UK. The team works with a wide range of businesses – including UK and foreign listed, private‑equity backed and family‑owned companies – across all key sectors of the economy.

The role involves managing complex tax audits and reporting engagements for listed and private businesses, multinational group reporting, and supporting private‑equity backed businesses with transaction‑related tax matters. You will work closely with audit, accounting advisory and valuation colleagues, and tax subject‑matter experts such as transfer pricing, treasury and innovation incentives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead tax audit and reporting engagements, providing deep tax accounting and technical expertise.
  • Manage the relationship with the Deloitte audit team and address complex tax and accounting technical matters on audit engagements.
  • Plan and manage delivery of tax reporting advisory and outsourcing work for a broad range of clients.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients’ tax and finance teams on reporting matters.
  • Lead and develop a team of tax and reporting specialists, including overseas teams, to deliver complex audit engagements.
  • Contribute to Deloitte’s national agenda on excellence in tax audit and accounting.
  • Support national leadership and development of the tax reporting and audit team.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering audit services, preferably with liaison to audit of tax teams for UK and overseas entities under IFRS, FRS 101/102, or US GAAP, or a willingness to learn.
  • ICAEW, CTA or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong integration and collaboration skills within high‑performing teams.
  • Delegation and leadership skills, with the ability to instruct junior teams clearly and concisely.
  • High‑quality business writing and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with audit teams and clients, applying practical and commercial concepts to technical work.
  • Presentation skills for clients and internal teams.
  • Organised, self‑motivated, and proactive in managing workload.
