Position Overview
Senior Project Engineer – Asset Delivery team. You will support Yorkshire Water in delivering high quality engineered MEICA projects and lead end‑to‑end design and delivery across Clean Water, Waste Water and Networks.
Organisation Context
The Programme Delivery department is responsible for delivering the Capital Construction Programme and is accountable for commercial and contractual arrangements across the supply chain. It aims to achieve best value for money by optimising resources, monitoring commercial arrangements and reducing cycle time.
Specialist Projects
The Specialist Projects stream brings together engineers from various disciplines to manage the end‑to‑end design process and utilise a wide range of supply chain within the Specialist Projects portfolio.
Where You Fit In
As Senior Project Engineer you will:
- Provide technical supervision and line management of a team of Project Technicians
- Technically manage and coordinate design and safe delivery of engineered MEICA projects
- Ensure projects comply with CDM regulations in the role of Principal Contractor and support the Client & Principal Designer
- Ensure adherence to YW Engineering specification and associated documentation
- Drive excellent standards in health and safety, risk management and control of work to ensure compliance with YW safety policy
- Apply robust financial management and commercial awareness in all business decisions
Skills & Qualifications
- Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Process based apprenticeship or Engineering degree or equivalent
- ONC/HNC/BTEC in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Process Engineering
- Understanding of control of works – Permits, POWRA, RAMS, etc.
- Knowledge of major processes and the role of MEICA equipment
- Broad experience with electrical, ICA, mechanical and process equipment to produce solutions that resolve business risks
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of CDM regulations and practical application
- Understanding of design and project delivery process including hazard identification, risk assessment and site supervision
- Ability to respond to a wide range of technical and non‑technical detailed queries
- Experience working to ATEX standards
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a regulated utility or major asset management / delivery role with a wide-ranging asset base
- Previous experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment
- SMSTS trained
- Knowledge of equipment within the water industry – high pressure/temperature waste processing facilities, chemical systems, gas processing and high voltage equipment
