Assistant Head Teacher – Christ the King Primary
Christ the King Primary is a warm, welcoming and ambitious school in the heart of Whitley in Reading, with approximately 300 pupils, including an ASD resource. We are seeking a talented and committed leader to join our Senior Management Team with responsibility for Inclusion.
From 1st September 2026 the position will be full‑time at Leadership level L5‑L8.
In this key role, you will support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in driving our vision, leading day‑to‑day school operations, shaping strategic priorities, and ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning. You will have overall responsibility for SEND provision, leading staff to deliver effective interventions and championing inclusive practice across the school.
Responsibilities
- Support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in driving the school vision and strategy.
- Lead day‑to‑day school operations and uphold high standards of teaching and learning.
- Carry out overall responsibility for SEND provision and champion inclusive practice.
- Develop and deliver staff improvement plans, particularly in SEND and whole‑school improvement.
- Work effectively with parents, carers, agencies and the DSL to secure strong provision for learners with EHCPs and additional funding.
- Engage children and families in learning and school life.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record of securing excellent outcomes for pupils.
- Strong leadership and development skills, especially in SEND.
- Resilience, ambition and ability to inspire others.
- Ability to work collaboratively with parents, carers, agencies and the DSL.
- Passion for engaging children and families in learning and school life.
