We are seeking an enthusiastic Principal Civil Engineer to lead and deliver a range of environmental improvements, river restoration projects, flood risk, infrastructure and energy schemes across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Technical leadership and management of the design process to develop sustainable and resilient solutions that meet client needs.
- Championing technical innovation to improve efficiency and quality of delivery, ensuring uptake of latest developments in digital design tools.
- Managing, developing and mentoring junior members of staff.
- Building positive relationships with clients, colleagues and key stakeholders.
- End to end project management, including contracts, budgetary control, programmes, change and risk management.
- Development and coordination of multi‑disciplinary teams and subcontractors.
- Leading Safety in Design (CDM) and compliance with environmental legislation.
- Experienced in design relating to earthworks, drainage design, retaining walls and headwalls.
- Ability to undertake site visits in various areas of the UK, including overnight stays.
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), ideally with the ICE, and keen to mentor and support junior staff as they work through our ICE accredited training schemes.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Organised and able to manage the workload of others.
- Commercially minded, with capabilities in the financial and contractual management of projects.
- Pragmatic thinker and solution finder.
- Able to mentor and develop junior staff including with their Initial Professional Development.
- Effective communicator, both internally and with clients and other external stakeholders.
- Works falling under the Reservoirs Act.
- Energy sector projects including sub‑stations, buried cables and battery storage.
- Design and management of flood protection schemes.
- Scour assessments for highways and rail structures.
- Natural flood management and sustainable urban drainage systems.
- Experienced in the use of the NEC4 suite of contracts.
- Hydraulic modelling and Flood Risk Assessment.
