We’re looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Senior Manager – Technology, Infrastructure & Operations to lead the evolution of our enterprise technology landscape. This is a high‑impact leadership role where you’ll drive infrastructure strategy, modernisation, operational excellence, and digital transformation across a complex, fast‑paced organisation.
The Opportunity
As part of the IT & Systems Leadership Team, you’ll lead the teams responsible for infrastructure engineering, project delivery, and end‑user operations. You’ll oversee critical technologies across servers, networking, cloud environments, end‑user computing and service delivery — ensuring EMR’s technology estate remains secure, resilient, scalable and fit for the future.
This role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight, giving you the opportunity to shape long‑term technology direction while ensuring day‑to‑day services perform at the highest level.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and delivering EMR’s technology and infrastructure roadmap aligned to business strategy
- Leading infrastructure engineering, project delivery and end‑user services teams
- Driving modernisation initiatives across cloud, networking, compute and digital workplace technologies
- Managing major infrastructure programmes and technical change delivery across a complex UK-wide environment
- Manage the technology portfolio, ensuring architecture, data flows are understood and documented.
- Ensuring robust service availability, backup, recovery and operational resilience
- Acting as the senior technical escalation point for infrastructure and operational services
- Managing major incidents and driving effective service restoration and stakeholder communication
- Leading infrastructure governance, risk management and change approval processes
- Managing supplier relationships, contracts, asset lifecycles and operational budgets
- Supporting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and high performance within the technology teams
- Manage the infrastructure and end user operations BAU budget and infra delivery project budget, working with finance to create clear reporting and future forecasts for spend.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a strategic technology leader with a strong infrastructure background and a passion for operational excellence.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Significant experience leading enterprise IT infrastructure and operations teams
- Strong technical expertise across networking, servers, cloud technologies and end‑user computing
- Experience delivering large-scale digital transformation and infrastructure change programmes
- Knowledge of IT governance, security and compliance frameworks including ISO27001, GDPR and ITIL
- Proven experience managing suppliers, outsourced services and operational budgets
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly at all levels
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to balance strategic planning and operational delivery
- Experience operating within complex, multi-site organisations
- ITIL Foundation (or equivalent) certification
- Proven delivery of complex technical change (2000+ employees) in UK wide digital transformation projects covering office relocations, WAN, LAN, Smart Mobile Devices, AD, Networks, Data, BI (analytics) software development
