Data Solutions Architect – Data-as-a-Service
State Street Alpha Data Services (ADS) is the data‑as‑a‑service provider that is the backbone of the Alpha front‑to‑back strategy, combining technology and services to deliver significant data management value to our clients. We are looking for a candidate to take on the role of Data Solutions Architect supporting pre‑sales due diligence and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Act as the face of the ADS organization, guiding the client’s Chief Data Architect and Data teams through the Alpha journey/adoption.
- Lead end‑to‑end solutioning of Front‑to‑Back (F2B) Alpha Data Platform (ADP)/ADS solutions, from pre‑contract due diligence and client presentations to documentation of target data solution architecture, future state operating model, solution design, environment setup, custom component development, go‑live activities, and post‑go‑live hyper‑care support.
- Manage data solutioning and shared ownership of at least one large client implementation or multiple medium‑to‑small clients concurrently.
- Collaborate with upstream application and system owners within State Street to integrate into ADP using the standard model.
- Design and execute process engineering to bring data solutions to life, encompassing data flows from multiple sources to target client consumption layer.
- Identify ADP product and data service gaps, partner with product and service practice managers to fill gaps and propose interim or tactical solutions.
- Partner with broader State Street Application/Service Owners to provide solutions for new client requirements that extend the standard set of services or, in selected cases, bespoke client solutions.
- Support defect resolution by collaborating with the development team to identify root causes and ensure defects are fixed.
- Collaborate with internal technical and business teams—including GTS, SaaS Ops, Alpha Cloud Ops, Alpha Platform Engineering, Alpha Product, ADS Implementation, Alpha Data Ops—and clients to resolve issues.
- Align with Client Implementation Executives and Leads on Alpha implementation activities.
- Contribute to standard operating procedures and ensure adoption, including any client‑specific requirements that might be custom bespoke processes.
- Engage with L2/L4 Support teams to ensure proper coverage.
- Collaborate with external vendors (Bloomberg, Refinitive, MSCI, Factset, Axioma, etc.) as needed for client implementations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills across all channels and recipient levels, including C‑suite.
- Hands‑on experience with ETL, Snowflake, CI/CD pipelines, SQL, data quality rules, and data‑readiness design of data platforms.
- Experience designing and implementing relational data models for audit, time‑series, complex relationship, and high‑volume data sets.
- Knowledge of performance and profiling techniques for complex data models.
- Strong teamwork, commitment, and work‑life balance culture.
- Analytical problem‑solving with judgment and innovation to define clear solutions.
- Deep experience with financial services data domains such as Security Master, Entity Master, Benchmarks, Positions, Transactions, Cash, Performance, Analytics, ESG, etc.
- Familiarity with data management, governance, service catalogue, data lineage tools, operational dashboards, and process monitoring.
- Experience with Azure/AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks highly regarded.
- Knowledge of internal and external integrations, triage, and resolution of data problems.
- Understanding of machine learning and AI applications in data management (plus).
- Prior experience with State Street, Charles River Development, BlackRock Aladdin, or other OMS considered a plus.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- University degree in computer science, data management, or a related financial services technical field.
- 15+ years of experience in data management, data architecture, product, and market data roles.
