Role Summary

Support the multidisciplinary team (MDT) coordinators and support officers by managing MDT meetings, facilitating discussions, and ensuring accurate data capture for the Somerset Cancer Register. This role requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Organise and manage MDT meetings, including agenda preparation, patient list circulation, and meeting scheduling.
  • Facilitate meetings and provide live secretary support, noting meeting minutes and outcomes.
  • Record the outcome of each discussion and process all MDT actions to ensure patients receive timely treatment.
  • Collect Cancer Waiting Times data and minimum datasets, and enter this information into the database.
  • Input minimum data set collection and CWT figures in accordance with national guidelines.
  • Participate in local and national audits and quality improvement activities.
  • Use Teams and other IT equipment during meetings.
  • Provide general administrative support to MDT coordinators and the clinical/non‑clinical teams.

Qualifications

  • Experienced administrator with proven keyboard skills and aptitude for IT systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a professional manner and appearance.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strict adherence to protocols, and ability to work independently in a busy, complex team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
  • Knowledge of Cancer Waiting Times standards (advantage). PAS/Patient Centre experience within a hospital setting is essential.
  • Relevant qualification or experience demonstrating applied knowledge in cancer and patient administration.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible working hours.
