Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a knowledgeable and dedicated Senior Clinical Research Midwife to join the Research and Innovation department at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is committed to being an inclusive and disability confident employer.
The post holder will work with a vibrant team of research nurses and practitioners delivering a broad portfolio of research studies. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will include the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
Previous research experience is desirable but not essential. Full training and supervision is provided. Experience in midwifery is an essential. The role is based at Frimley Park Hospital but will involve some cross‑site working to support delivery teams at other sites of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Identify new studies for R&I portfolio and be a key player in the feasibility process of new studies within the speciality assigned.
- Contribute to the set-up and management of studies.
- Coordinate and conduct commercial and non-commercial studies in accordance with ICH‑GCP and UK policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
- To ensure that the approved study protocols are followed at all times and conduct studies to current legislation, ICH‑GCP and local SOPs.
- Be accountable for the documentation of the study data according to ICH‑GCP guidelines.
- Create and maintain investigator site files.
- Ensure the study participant is managed according to the schedule of events set out in the protocol.
- Identify suitable participants for studies by attending clinics, screening notes and relevant multi-disciplinary team meetings.
- Coordinate the study activities.
- Participate in developing a shared vision of the service and work with the multidisciplinary team, partner organisations and external agencies to achieve this.
Qualifications
- NMC first level registration as a midwife.
Experience
- Experience in delivering clinical research.
- Cannulation and phlebotomy.
- Committed to service development.
Skills and Knowledge
- Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and equally well within a team.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
- Copes well under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, Teams, and OneDrive.
Special Requirements
- Willingness to acquire and develop additional skills and qualifications necessary to carry out the role.
- Ability to travel across FHFT main sites and satellite sites.
- Commitment to achieving the research and innovation objectives within the Trust and wider systems.
