Job Title

Band 6 – Radiographer / Technologist – Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT (Fixed term, 12 months, maternity cover)

Location: Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton (and satellite department in Haywards Heath).

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Radiographer (or Technologist) to work in our Nuclear Medicine department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The role is a 12‑month fixed term contract providing maternity cover.

You will ensure a high‑quality service administering radiopharmaceuticals and performing Nuclear Medicine scans, including PET‑CT. You will be supported by senior technologists, consultants, management, and dedicated physics and admin staff.

As a senior technologist or radiographer you will help ensure effective day‑to‑day operations of the service, respond to challenges, work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain good relationships with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient referrals, manage care, safely prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, and scan patients.
  • Perform image processing and produce results to the highest technical standards.
  • Supervise technologists/radiographers and support staff as required.
  • Support the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist, PET‑CT Superintendent and Lead Superintendent, and work collaboratively with other clinical colleagues.
  • Work within regulatory frameworks and follow all local rules, standard operating procedures and health and safety legislation.
  • Provide service in all nuclear medicine departments, including weekend and evening duties as required.

Qualifications

  • HCPC (Health & Care Professionals Council) or RCT registration.

Experience

  • Understanding of risks associated with radioactive sources and CT for patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of general policies and procedures of a nuclear medicine department.
  • Previous experience of student mentorship.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role‑specific criteria.

Salary

Salaried £39,959 – £48,117 per annum (pro‑rata).
