Advanced Clinical Pharmacist and Teacher Practitioner – Advanced clinical pharmacist role at Aintree site of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The incumbent will provide a high-quality, proactive, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to the medical division and support the undergraduate MPharm programme at Liverpool John Moores University.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Clinical Pharmacist – Education and Training to deliver high-level teaching to MPharm undergraduates.
- Provide and co-ordinate undergraduate clinical teaching across the Trust and at Liverpool John Moores University.
- Maintain and develop advanced clinical pharmacy skills, including care-group responsibilities.
- Deliver a safe and effective advanced clinical pharmacy service to medical patients and staff.
- Assist the Lead Divisional Pharmacist (Medicine) in clinical training, supervision and delivery of non-medical prescribing services.
- Identify the clinical and economic impact of medicines use, develop and implement clinical guidelines, and monitor drug expenditure to meet clinical and financial targets.
- Provide highly specialist pharmaceutical information to medical, nursing and GP staff and patients where appropriate.
- Act as an independent prescriber in accordance with Trust non-medical prescriber policies and guidelines once registered.
- Participate in consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings relevant to the designated wards and directorate.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work on own initiative, motivate and inspire others, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Methodical with strong attention to detail.
- Enthusiastic about the position and education of future pharmacists.
- Current UK professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable Qualifications
- Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy; or ability to affect and manage change.
- Diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent documented clinical experience.
- Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development and education.
- Previous experience providing education and training within pharmacy.
- Experience as a non-medical prescriber (NMP).
- Relevant post-diploma clinical experience at specialist clinical pharmacist level.
- Tutor for postgraduate qualifications or pre-registration pharmacist tutor; well-developed knowledge of education and training in pharmacy.
- Good presentation skills.
- Competent in regulation and legislation of pharmaceutical services and medicines.
- Extensive knowledge of pharmacy audit and computer literacy.
- Ability to act as a role model for other pharmacists.
