Design Manager – Residential / RIBA Stages 1-5
Location: Rainham, Essex (RM13)
Salary: £300 – £400 per day
Start: 2nd June 2026
Contract: 3 month contract (Temp to Perm potential)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Overview
JML are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join a major residential construction programme in Rainham. You will be working across multiple projects, taking schemes from early design through to construction delivery, within a fast‑paced main contractor environment.
Responsibilities
- Managing design delivery from RIBA Stages 1-5
- Leading PCSA and pre‑construction design coordination
- Coordinating subcontractor design packages and technical submissions
- Supporting planning, Building Control and BSR requirements
- Managing design information through technical and construction stages
- Working closely with commercial and delivery teams across live projects
Qualifications
- Experience as a Design Manager or Design Coordinator
- Strong knowledge of RIBA stages 1-5
- Background in residential or mixed‑use construction projects
- Experience managing design coordination across multiple disciplines
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations
- Confident working with consultants, subcontractors and site teams
Nice to Have
- Main contractor or developer experience
- Exposure to PCSA / pre‑construction stages
- Experience with Building Safety Regulator (BSR) processes
- Large‑scale residential project experience
