We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong.
If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you.
Your role: As our Statutory Compliance Electrical Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of keeping homes and corporate buildings across Wigan safe.
You’ll take the lead on electrical compliance, ensuring testing, inspecting, maintenance and repairs are planned, delivered and done right.
You’ll work closely with contractors and colleagues across our Statutory Compliance and Building Safety team, acting as the go-to person for electrical advice.
You’ll be supported to develop professionally and empowered to make a real difference for our tenants and communities.
Working with: Statutory Compliance team, Building Safety, wider statutory compliance team, planned works team, and the voids/repairs team.
Support: Support from the Statutory Compliance and Cyclical Maintenance Manager and everyone from the Statutory Compliance team.
Client base: Wigan staff working in corporate buildings, residents and contractors delivering the servicing and remedial works.
About you: You’re a qualified electrician with electrical contract operational and supervisor skill set who really knows their stuff and takes pride in doing things properly.
You’ve got experience managing electrical compliance and working with contractors, ideally in housing or property services.
You’re organised, approachable and confident dealing with technical information, systems and people.
You don’t mind being out and about, can juggle priorities, and always keep safety and customer experience front and centre.
Most of all, you’ll be someone who shares our Team Wigan values and wants to make things better.
About us: Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations. The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for the Wigan Borough.
Statutory compliance is a critical aspect with the Council, as it ensures that we are adhering to laws and regulations set forth by government agencies. By implementing compliance measures, we can protect our residents from legal and financial penalties and ensure the integrity of our operations.
The role will be responsible for making things better, enabling change and supporting improvement within the electrical function for housing and corporate buildings.
We also support flexible working patterns where the service can accommodate this, including working from home, the office, or the community, depending on the work we do.
